This term we have been looking at different materials and their properties in Science. Alongside our topic ‘Fire Fire’, we have been exploring flammability and how different materials may have affected The Great Fire of London. We made predictions about which materials we thought would be flammable and any that we thought would not catch fire. Miss Davis took us to the Marsh and we tested out plastic, wood, metal, brick, wet leaves, fabric and paper. We found this very exciting and enjoyed testing our predictions! The most flammable material that we tested was the plastic bag which was very surprising! The brick was not flammable at all and we enjoyed discussing this in relation to buildings in London in 1666. Lots of wooden buildings were destroyed and replaced with brick. Thank you to Miss Davis for a very exciting afternoon!
