RE is taught in-line with the Oxfordshire Agreed Syllabus. At ECPS we teach Religious Education using ‘Discovery RE.’ This scheme shares the belief that RE makes a strong contribution to the education of each child by encouraging them to develop skills of critical thinking and analysis, as well as developing attitudes like empathy, sensitivity and understanding whilst being able to stand up for their own beliefs and challenge injustice around them. RE is taught through an enquiry-based approach and, whilst the study of Christianity will form the main component of the Programme of Study, RE will also involve learning about three or four other religions.
